It is immobile for the rest of the game, unless it can be repaired. 2-5 - Immobilised - The vehicle splutters to a stop. If your battlegroup contains any vehicles with the Unreliable special rule you must play this counter on one of them instead.īREAKDOWN TABLE 1 - No Effect - Something's clanking, but the vehicle will struggle on until the end of the game. Play this on an enemy vehicle (but not an aircraft). 6 - Out of Ammunition - The unit is out of ammunition and quits the battlefield in search of more. 4-5 - Out of Ammo - The unit cannot fire again until resupplied. If played on a gun that has a loader team attached, then remove the loader team (this does not require a Battle Counter) and roll on the table - they won't hang around with no ammo left to carry. Play this on any enemy infantry unit or deployed gun. It must immediately take a Unit Morale test (pag.42), just as if it had been hit by fire.

Īmmo Low Play this on any enemy infantry unit or deployed gun. 6 - Critical Damage - Regardless of armour, the mine damages the vehicle so badly that the crew abandon it. 2-5 - Kaboom! - The vehicle takes a hit with a penetration value of 5 against its rear armour. Your opponent may now place the Mine Strike counter on one of your vehicles and roll again on this table. MINE STRIKE TABLE 1 - Friendly Fire! - It is not an enemy vehicle but one of your own that has hit an uncleared friendly mine. Play this on any enemy vehicle that moved this turn or last turn (it cannot be played on static vehicles) and roll a D6 on the Mine Strike table below. Roll again on the Close Air Support Table in the battlegroup's Army List to determine exactly which type of aircraft it is, and roll again for how that aircraft is armed. On a 5+, an aircraft will arrive at the start of the player's next turn.
#BATTLE GROUP KURSK SERIES#
Four detailed army lists included: German Panzer and Infantry Divisions, to face the Russian Tank Corps and Rifle Divisions across a series of scenarios or a short campaign 'The Inglorious. These fast, fun and authentic-feeling rules, written by veteran games designer Warwick Kinrade (author of Kampfgruppe Normandie), are designed to play at 15mm and 20mm (1/72nd) scales. It may take a 'Beyond the Call of Duty' test and, if passed, then immediately be given an order out of the normal game sequence.īEYOND THE CALL OF DUTY TABLE Inexperienced unit: 4+ Regular unit: 3+ Veteran unit: 2+ Elite unit: 2+ A new and innovative games system for re-creating the epic battles around Kursk in 1943 on the Eastern Front. Both of these were legitimate tactics used by the Royal Artillery.įFN looked good when I saw it, I'd like a game sometime.Play this on one of your own units (any unit you like). No set of rules allows speculative fire by artillery into likely enemy positions nor can you stonk a known enemy position if they move back 2 inches into the, for example, wood. We fought three big games ( 30ft long tables ) at the old Wargames Holiday Centre, D-Day, Breakout Normandy and Kursk, the first worked really well but the others petered out as nothing could penetrate the Panthers and Tigers which never broke down and hid in the woods or buildings. Infantry could not hold ground against tanks an having 1 PIAT per 40 man battalion and that single weapon could be targetted put me off. I used to play Rapid Fire but it soon got bogged down into tank battles.

No reason why the FOW missions cannot be used with other rules sets. What I do like about FOW is the empathsis on taking and holding objectives rather than just killing things. I'm not welded to FOW, it has its faults but I think the mission statement of the folks behind BGK is very ambitious.
